Prescription drug use has severely impacted our nation, fueling a rise in overdoses, crime, and a multitude of health problems. This presentation will describe how community-based participatory research (CBPR) methods were used to develop and implement intervention strategies within an urban Appalachian community. Counselor educators will find this presentation helpful in exploring how clinical, research, and advocacy roles may intersect in this method rooted in multicultural social justice principles.
